The most recent addition to our Charity of the Month winners’ list is an organisation that uses microcredit to help people lift themselves out of poverty.

Its focus is on supporting people living in Kenya and it receives patronage from Bishop Terence Drainey, Bishop of Middlesbrough.

We explain all the great work that Just Small Change is doing.

Just Small Change wants to ‘build a pathway out of poverty’

Just Small Change seeks to overcome poverty in Kenya, “one small business at a time”.

Kenya is a nation that is rich in people, culture and resources, but is one of the 20 poorest countries in the world.

It also ranks 135 of 159 countries on the Gender Inequality Index

Just Small Change works to change this by working with Kenyan women, providing the support they need to build financial independence by developing their own companies.

Just Small Change provides business training & microcredit

Just Small Change aims to make lasting, sustainable change that erodes poverty and gender imbalance in Kenya. This is why it provides business training and microcredit to women in Kenya.

The charity works with partner organisations to run courses and issue microfinance — and it has issued 441 loans to date.

The people Just Small Change supports are able to track their loans, develop savings schemes and grow their businesses.

You can read about how it has helped the lives of Susan, Mary and Loice, by visiting Just Small Change now.

What can I do to help Just Small Change achieve its mission?

Just Small Change gets patronage from Bishop Terence Drainey, Bishop of Middlesbrough.

However, like all charities, Just Small Change is reliant on donations from people who support its mission to help people rise out of poverty and build a sustainable future.

You can help Just Small Change by sending it a charitable donation

But that’s not all you can do to show your support. These are the other things you can do:

  • Fundraise
  • Become a corporate supporter
