Coco are a children’s charity who aim to improve children’s lives in East Africa by working with local communities and improving educational facilities. Their current operations span Kenya and Tanzania, with plans to broaden out into Uganda soon. They are based in the North East of England.
What do Coco do?
Coco aims to actively reduce barriers that local children have when they try to go to school. Coco get involved with communities on a broad level, encouraging local farmers and agricultural communities to thrive. They get involved with:
- water & sanitation
- sport & recreation
Coco’s mission statement is “Listen, Learn, Sustain”, which shows their commitment to sustainable growth and development in the region that aligns with local communities and practices.
Coco’s Christmas appeal
This Christmas, Coco are fundraising in order to build an entire nursery school from scratch on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. They need to raise £8,500 in order to reach their fundraising goal. Here is a link to their Christmas appeal campaign: Coco Christmas.
